HR in law: Coming of age

In this podcast, Totum Director Deborah Gray talks to Laura McNair, who heads up Totum's HR & Operations team, about the future of HR in law. This is a particularly exciting time for HR professionals working in the legal sector, as their roles become evermore strategic, commercial and embedded in the business. The rise of the Chief People Officer (CPO) title reflects this change, as more HR leaders take on board level responsibility, ensuring that their firms have the right people strategies in place to help drive their firm's commercial agenda. HR is a critical business services function covering a broad swathe of roles in areas including L&D, diversity, reward, employee relations, recruitment and more. These many roles are headed up by HR leaders who are seen as business partners and trusted advisors. Technology too is playing a significant part in driving change in this function: CPOs who can can use data to inform business decisions are in high demand. There has never been a better time for HR professionals to make a difference in the legal sector.
